Company faces charges relating to pensioner's death

Elder Healthcare Limited to appear in court in May

A Douglas company facing charges related to the death of a pensioner is due to appear in court again in May.

Elder Healthcare Limited of Fuchsia Lane was due to appear before Deputy High Bailiff Christopher Arrowsmith at Douglas courthouse, but was excused attending because of coronavirus restrictions.

It’s facing a total of three charges dating to 2019 - one of failing to discharge its health and safety duties and two of failing to comply with regulations.

Ninety-six-year-old retired secretary Olive Muriel Renecle died in a fire at her first floor flat on Fuchsia Lane on 17 November that year.

The case was adjourned and the company will appear again on 13 May.
