The company at the centre of a row in the House of Keys this week says it’s planning solar generators for Jurby – not wind turbines.
Last night, a public meeting in Jurby expressed its opposition to five turbines the company said it wanted to build on the airfield as part of a proposed factory employing 100 people.
In the House of Keys this week, Economic Development Minister John Shimmin said the wind turbine factory couldn’t use 100-metre high turbines because the airfield is still earmarked for aviation.
But today, Keith Brooks, the managing director of Prowind UK Ltd, said the company would use a battery of solar panels to power its facility instead.
Mr Brooks didn’t want to be interviewed over the proposals.
