New infrastructure minister questioned in Keys
The new infrastructure minister has promised to change the way passenger numbers are recorded across the Island's different public transport options.
Tim Baker was responding to a question in the House of Keys from Ramsey MHK Lawrie Hooper, who had spotted a discrepancy between the figures given to Tynwald, and in response to a freedom of information request.
Mr Baker said he was aware of the problems, and explained why:
In the April 2019 sitting of Tynwald, the department said in 2018, 113,197 passenger journeys had been made on the steam railway.
In February 2020, in response to an FOI, the department said 127,096 passengers had travelled on the steam railway in 2018.
An additional figure of 9,000 passengers using the dining car was consistent in both answers, the minister said.
