Corrin home campaigners 'greatly disappointed' at July closure

Facility to shut next month despite community effort

Campaigners for the Corrin Memorial Home say news that the facility will shut next month has been met with great disappointment.

It was announced that steps will now be taken to close the home in Peel by 19 July, despite a community effort to save it.

Last month Tynwald agreed a minimum notice period of six months of any potential closure whilst the DHSC, trustees and directors could look for a solution.

Health Minister David Ashford says they've been meeting with the home's directors on a weekly basis and described the closure as 'sad news':

'The whole group are just so disappointed, we put a great deal of work into this'.
