Could Digital Strategy put privacy at risk?

Civil liberties campaigner concerned

A local civil liberties campaigner is concerned the government's Digital Strategy could put people's privacy at risk.

Tristram Llewellyn-Jones believes the strategy is moving towards an electronic identity, which could impact data security.

This comes after thousands of private email addresses were accidentally sent out by the Income Tax Division last month and the breach of the new Go School cards in December.

But Mr Llewellyn-Jones goes even further to say elements of the strategy could be unlawful: (play audio)

The report will be considered by Tynwald this week.
