Council trials postal kiosk in HBN library

Self-service 'pay-and-post' to be offered

Douglas Council has agreed in principle to install a self-service postal kiosk in Henry Bloom Noble Library.

The Regeneration and Community Committee has been investigating whether the 'pay and post' booth would be viable at the Council-run site.

Members received a report from the local authority's assistant chief officer on the kiosk, which they agreed to trial for twelve months, meeting costs through the Council's ICT Communications budget.

If successful, it's hoped the service could be used in future by tenants and ratepayers to make payments to the Council.

Discussion have been held with the Isle of Man Post Office about the viability of the kiosk, and training has been offered to library staff and users.

No date has been set as yet for the installation of the trial service.
