Court hears woman waved knife boyfriend

Psychiatric reports to be prepared

Psychiatric reports will be prepared after a woman was accused of waving a knife at her boyfriend during an argument at his home.

Thirty-six-year-old Nicola Donna Gelling, of Empire Terrace in Douglas, appeared at Douglas Courthouse this week.

She’s charged with one count of criminal damage and one of affray at a flat on Hutchinson Square on 25 February.

Prosecution advocate Barry Swain said the charges related to a domestic incident which took place at her partner’s flat.

Mr Swain said Miss Gelling threw items around the apartment, breaking a number of them as she rowed with her boyfriend.

When she grabbed a knife and brandished it at him, he waited until she’d calmed down and gone to sleep before contacting police.

Miss Gelling’s advocate Kate Alexander said her client had mental health problems and asked for a psychiatric report to be prepared.

Miss Gelling was bailed in the sum of £250 and told not to try to contact her boyfriend or go to his address before she next appears in court on 2 April.
