Covid-19 deaths on the Isle of Man rise

81 people have died since the start of the pandemic

Another Covid-19 related death has been recorded on the Isle of Man.

It brings the total number of people, who've had Coronavirus mentioned on their death certificate since the start of the pandemic, to 81.

Data from the Public Health surveillance report shows cases have continued to increase over the last week.

The Island's reproduction rate – or R number – has risen to 2.4 indicating a further rise in transmission.

The majority of the increase has been in people aged between 20 and 59.

Public Health says this could relate to patterns of travel around half term and changes to testing requirements.

The report highlights that it is likely that there are more cases on the Island than have been officially notified.

However Public Health says as the majority of Omicron cases are mild numbers are a less important measure than the pressure on health and care services.
