Police have named the motorcyclist from Ramsey who was killed in a road accident yesterday afternoon.
Forty-three year-old Neil Walker was married with two children and was well-known in the town, both as a joiner and a retained fireman.
He lost his life when his bike collided with a car near Bulgham rocks on the Laxey to Ramsey coast road.
His family are being offered support by a Police Family Liaison Officer.
Chief Fire Officer, Kevin Groom said: ‘I am devastated to lose Neil from this life in such tragic circumstances; he was a truly professional firefighter who had served at Ramsey Fire Station for over 22 years.
‘On behalf of all staff of the Isle of Man Fire and Rescue, I send sincere condolences to his wife, children, family and friends at this sad and difficult time. Rest in Peace Neil.’
A number of witnesses were spoken to at the scene but the police would appeal for anyone else who was present and who saw what happened to contact Police Headquarters on 631212, or any police station.
