DEFA is not 'anti-camping' says minister

Barber confirms no TT bookings were taken for Sulby Claddagh site

No campsite bookings have been taken for the Sulby Claddagh site for TT 2023.

That’s from the Department of Environment, Food and Agriculture which says there were no visitors booked to stay this year.

Overnight bookings have been stopped on the common land which the government manages; DEFA claims the site is running at a ‘significant loss’ and is ‘unsustainable’.

The toilet block on the site also needs demolishing and a consultation on future views for the area will be launched later this year.

The decision has been met with disappointment from Manx Radio listeners – one has described it as ‘another nail in the Isle of Man’s coffin’.
