Jane Poole-Wilson represented Island at Palace of Westminster

The Isle of Man has been represented at a special Channel Islands Liberation Day reception in London.

Deputy Chief Minister Jane Poole-Wilson attended the event at Speaker’s House in the Palace of Westminster.

Senior representatives from the Crown Dependencies, UK Government and the diplomatic community were all in attendance.

The reception, on 28 April, commemorated the end of the Nazi occupation of the Channel Islands during the Second World War.

During the visit Mrs Poole-Wilson met with the UK Deputy Prime Minister and Lord Chancellor David Lammy MP.

They were said to have discussed the 'strong and constructive' relationship between the Isle of Man and the United Kingdom and continued cooperation on 'areas of mutual interest'.

The visit comes after the Island faced delays to the Assisted Dying Bill from Mr Lammy's office.

Mrs Poole-Wilson also met representatives from Guernsey and Jersey.

She said: "The Channel Islands Liberation Day reception is an important opportunity to recognise our shared history and to honour the resilience of island communities.

"It was an honour to attend to show our support for the Channel Islands and to strengthen our relationships with partners across the Crown Dependencies and the UK."
