Shops to be managed by government
Allowing Noble's hospital shops to be managed by government is a 'stupid' idea - according to the Lib Van leader.
The Department of Health and Social Care insists it'll be a lucrative source of income, after a Treasury external tender to rent-out the two units failed to find any takers.
Minister Howard Quayle says the department is looking to recruit extra hands to staff the two units - he believes profits will more than compensate for the loss of rental income and employee costs.
The workforce from both the newsagent and gift shop have been asked to continue in their posts.
