Domestic abuse to be a crime on the Island by the autumn

DHA Minister hopes to see it happen within this administration

The Home Affairs Minister says domestic abuse will be a crime on the Island by the autumn.

The Domestic Abuse Act was first introduced in the House of Keys in October 2019, and was eventually given Royal Assent a year later.

But it's still awaiting enabling legislation, which would allow an offender to be arrested or charged with it.

Graham Cregeen says he's keen for the Act to be fully operational by the next election, which is in September:
