Committee chairman gives assurances
The chairman of the Douglas Regeneration Committee says he accepts shops in the capital have problems – in the week the Body Shop announced it’s to pull out.
Bosses at the Strand Shopping Centre said the store would close, citing car parking, regeneration work and internet competition as factors.
David Cretney MLC says he understands their concerns, having run a town centre shop for some years.
But he says paving and other improvement works taking place will pay dividends:
Some pubs to stay open for early-hours England match
Tynwald to revisit rates bill after the election
Douglas Council to install temporary play area in Marine Gardens
