Council still has a place says former member
A former MLC says the work of the Manx parliament’s upper chamber should not be derided.
Dudley Butt was a member of the Legislative Council for a decade before standing down last February.
There’s been criticism the role is not publicly elected and that the selection process can turn into a farce with numerous ballots.
Mr Butt agrees with that, but says the process should not undermine the work many members carry out.
