Isle of Man claims two top spots in 2025 British Trams Online competition
There's been a double victory for the Isle of Man in the 2025 British Trams Online Tram of The Year competition.
Manx Electric Railway Trailer 50, which returned to service last year for the first time since 1978 following restoration work, has retained the award for 'Heritage Tram of the Year'.
It's the fifth time an MER tram has won this award.
Meanwhile, the Manx Heritage Transport Festival took the top spot in the 'Event of the Year' category.
British Trams Online says this was the closest-fought category, with just four votes between the Manx event in first place and the Seaside Event at East Anglia Transport Museum in second.
Sharing the news online, Manx Electric Railway Online says: "Thanks to each and every one of you who voted and took part in a special year on the Island's vintage electric railways."
