Douglas man accused of indecently assaulting child

Indecent images also allegedly found on computer

A Douglas man's appeared in court over allegations he had sex with a 13-year-old girl.

Forty-six-year-old Andrew Christian Godding, of Richmond Close, appeared before High Bailiff Jayne Hughes at Douglas courthouse.

He pleaded not guilty to indecently assaulting a child, and having underage sex between 2016 and 2018, as well as possessing indecent images of children between 2001 and 2002.

No pleas have yet been entered to three counts of procuring a child under 16 to commit an act of gross indecency.

Prosecutor Roger Kane told the hearing Mr Godding is accused of sexual activity with a friend's daughter.

Seven indecent images of children were found on a computer belonging to Mr Godding as police investigated the other allegations.

The court heard the images showed children aged between 10 and 15-years-old.

Mrs Hughes said the offences were so serious they would have to be tried in the Court of General Gaol Delivery.

She bailed him to appear in the higher court on a date to be fixed.
