Douglas man admits possessing indecent images and videos of children

More than 130 still images found on mobile phones and laptop

A court’s heard an operation in the UK led Manx police officers to discover a stash of indecent images of children on phones and a computer belonging to a Douglas man.

Fifty-year-old Terry Moore of Princes Road appeared before magistrates at Douglas courthouse.

He’s pleaded guilty to 11 charges of having indecent images of children on two mobile phones and a laptop between December 2016 and October 2019.

Prosecution advocate Barry Swain said police searched Moore’s home after being tipped off by colleagues in the UK following an investigation there.

In total, 130 still images and videos were found on the devices, with two being classed as most serious on a scale used by officers.

Mr Swain said 94 still images were found to be at the lowest end of the scale, while another 36 still and moving images were found to lie in between.

Magistrates said sentencing guidelines laid down after a previous case meant their powers of sentencing would allow the summary court to deal with Moore’s case.

He was bailed for the probation service to complete a social enquiry report and is due to appear again for sentencing on 19 March.
