A Douglas man accused of assaulting his ex-girlfriend has been banned from Port Erin as he awaits trial.
Thirty-three-year-old Anthony John Richard Lyons, of Spring Valley Road, appeared before the Deputy High Bailiff at Douglas Courthouse.
He pleaded not guilty to assault and resisting police during an incident on the Edremony Estate in Port Erin.
Prosecution advocate Rebecca Cubbon told the hearing Mr Lyons was living with his girlfriend and both had been drinking on 19 September.
A row broke out shortly before midnight and Mr Lyons is said to have shouted abuse at her and thrown items at her in the bedroom.
He's also said to have grabbed her by her hair, flinging her against a radiator and injuring her shoulder.
When officers arrived he's alleged to have turned abusive and uncooperative – the court heard Pava spray had to be used and five officers were needed to put him into a police van.
He was bailed in the sum of £500 on condition he doesn't enter Port Erin, or contact his alleged victim, and he’ll next appear in court on 16 November.
