Douglas teenager pleads guilty following street attack

18-year-old used threatening behaviour towards victim

A Douglas teenager who attacked a man on a busy shopping street in broad daylight will be sentenced next month.

Eighteen-year-old Neil Clarke, of Church Road Marina, appeared before High Bailiff Jayne Hughes at Douglas Courthouse.

He pleaded guilty to using threatening behaviour on Regent Street in Douglas on 14 February.

Clarke and another man were spotted by shop staff at around 3.30pm that afternoon.

They ran over to another man and shouted as they attacked him.

During the scuffle their victim was knocked to the ground where they punched and kicked him until members of the public intervened.

The court heard Clarke was serving a suspended jail term, imposed last year, for possessing £20,000 worth of cannabis with intent to supply.

Bail was granted while pre-sentencing reports are prepared and he'll next appear in court on 28 June.
