Vet's view on 'tram ban' protest
An Island vet says the horses used on Douglas tramway are more than capable of pulling the vintage vehicles - and are not overworked.
Ray Cox has responded to a protest staged on the promenade at the weekend.
Activist Felix Joughin set up placards by the tram lines on Saturday, calling for a ban on the trams, after seeing a horse stumble three times.
Mr Cox from Milan Veterinary Practice oversees the horses' welfare on behalf of the Department of Infrastructure.
He says while increasing traffic on the prom may be a concern in the future, the horses are not put under any undue strain:
No increase in domestic gas prices for rest of 2026
Law targeting sale of nicotine pouches takes step further
Procurement process for Kirk Onchan Post Office continuing
Bus station will not be moved to the Sea Terminal
