'Dramatic rescue' for highland cow after cliffside fall

Calf fell into the sea at Langness

A young highland cow had to be rescued from a Manx cliffside yesterday (21 September) after slipping and falling into the sea at Langness.

Moorhouse Farm says the calf managed to swim to an inlet but steep sides made the following recovery difficult.

Two hours later, however, and with the help of a tractor and several volunteers, the young highland was hauled up the cliffside - albeit with some cuts and bruises.

Paul Costain, the farmer at Moorhouse Farm, told Lewis Foster the calf had a lucky escape:

Mr Costain says they're now thinking of naming the calf after a Manx swimmer.
