Driving ban for drink driver found in McDonalds drive-thru

28-year-old also fined £1,400 after admitting offence

A Douglas man has been banned from the road for two years after being caught drink driving.

Police found Joshua James Wilcox, of Palace Terrace, in the drive-thru queue at McDonalds on 21 July.

The Emergency Services Joint Control Room received reports, just before 9pm, that the 28-year-old’s Toyota was ‘all over the road’.

When Wilcox got out of his car he was stumbling and smelt of alcohol; he was arrested and taken to Police Headquarters where tests showed he was more than one and a half times over the legal limit.

Sentencing him, at Douglas Courthouse, Deputy High Bailiff Rachael Braidwood said he’d lost his good character as a result of the offence.

She fined him £1400 and ordered him to pay prosecution costs of £125; Wilcox will remain banned until he’s taken and passed an extended driving test.
