Schemes have led to divided society
Schemes to grow the economy are no more than lies.
That's what those attending yesterday's Illiam Dhone ceremony were told.
Over forty people attended the annual event at Hango Hill in Castletown . . despite the poor weather.
Instigated by Manx Nationalist party Mec Vannin, it's been held every year since 1979 to commemorate the execution by firing squad of Illiam Dhone in 1663.
Editor of Mec Vannin's newsletter, Pete Crellin, gave the oration in English . . . and claimed efforts to grow the Island's economy had led to a divided society.
