Former Strix Chairman passes away while on holiday
One of the Island's best known and successful businessman has passed away.
Former Chair of Strix, Eddie Davies CBE, died while on holiday in Portugal with his wife.
He was 72.
Strix Ltd is the world's leading manufacturer of kettle controls, with products around the world estimated to be used a billion times a day. It has a base in the south of the Island.
Mr Davies was listed in the top 600 richest people in Britain in 2004 with an estimated worth of £60 million, and owned Bolton Wanderers Football Club until March 2016.
He was renowned for his charitable work and donated large sums of money to charity, including £100,000 to the Royal Bolton Hospital in Bolton for the establishment of a coronary care unit.[
Mr Davies was awarded his CBE in 2011.
