easyJet blamed 'failure of runway lighting system' for cancelled flight
Edge lights on the main runway at the Isle of Man Airport are 50 percent ‘unserviceable’.
A NOTAM - Notice to Airmen - indicates there is still an issue at Ronaldsway.
The notice is in place until 8.45pm tonight (27 October) - when the airport normally closes.
Last night easyJet cancelled the EZY518 flight from the Isle of Man to Liverpool.
The airline told passengers it was due to ‘failure of the runway lighting system’.
It claimed the runway had been closed due to this describing it as an ‘extraordinary circumstance’.

Edge lighting runs down both edges of the runway to enable pilots to land, and take off, and remain in the centre of the runway at night and in poor visibility.
During daylight aircraft can operate without edge lighting.
Sunset tonight is at 4.55pm.
Manx Radio has made repeated attempts to seek further information from the Isle of Man Government and the Infrastructure Minister Jason Moorhouse.
We have not received a response.
easyJet has also been invited to comment.
The airline told Manx Radio: “Due to the temporary closure of Isle of Man Airport’s runway yesterday evening, flight EZY518 from Isle of Man to Liverpool was delayed overnight.
“We did everything possible to minimise the impact of the delay, providing hotel accommodation and meals for those who required them.
“The safety of customers and crew is easyJet highest priority and while this was outside of our control, we are sorry for the inconvenience caused.”
