Education Minister to ask Tynwald for £3 million for new facility at IOM College

Tynwald sits later today – with roadworks, Ronaldsway airport and biological attacks all on the minds of members.

There are 23 questions for oral answer and another twelve for written replay, as well as nine sets of orders and regulations to be laid before the court.

And reports on the Island’s open skies policy and the Sefton Group’s government bailout are due before the court.

Education and Children Minister Tim Crookall will also ask for just over £3 million for a construction and engineering facility at Isle of Man College.

During questions, Douglas North MHK Bill Henderson will ask for progress reports on roadworks on Peel Road and the promenade in Douglas.

Onchan MHK Peter Karran, meanwhile, wants to know about problems at the airport with both its runway and radar system.

Three petitions for redress of grievance from July’s Tynwald Day will also be put before the court for committees to investigate, and Castletown commissioners bid to reduce the number of board members could get an inquiry to investigate the proposals.

You can hear live coverage of today’s Tynwald sitting on Manx Radio’s AM1368 frequency – and online at manxradio.com – from 10.30 this morning.
