The Chief Minister says he believes events which led to the Douglas East by-election fraud trial are a ‘one-off’.
Allan Bell was speaking after three people were convicted of fraud following a six week trial, costing an estimated £3 million.
He’s confident any lessons that need to be learned from the May 2010 contest will be and does not think election trusts - where candidates receive financial backing, sometimes anonymously - will be a factor in Manx elections ever again.
