Decision on whether Island retains the status due next year

An exhibition charting 10 years of the Isle of Man's status as the world's first whole-nation UNESCO Biosphere has opened at the Manx Museum in Douglas.

Since the Island's designation in 2016 a Biosphere Partner Network of 400 organisations - including all state schools - has developed.

Meanwhile, a Biosphere Board with an independent chair, was established in 2025 to strengthen governance.

Jason Bissell, chair of the Biosphere Isle of Man Board says there's much to celebrate from the first decade, and much still to do.

He's encouraging everyone who can to go along and see the exhibition and reflect on what can be achieved together over the next 10 years.

The decision on whether the Island retains its Biosphere status will be revealed in the summer of 2027.

The exhibition at the Manx Museum runs until 28 February.
