Fairy Bridge tree lopped but still stands

Landmark tree loses limb as area cleared

A much-loved tree at the Fairy Bridge is still standing - despite reports it has been cut down.

A photo shared on social media prompted dismay the famous tree had been removed.

One of its branches has been cut back and other trees nearby cut down, but the roadside tree itself by the Fairy Bridge sign, still stands.

A licence was granted for nearby trees to be cut down, changing the appearance of the area.
