Fans react to TT 2023 schedule

Concerns raised over ferry journeys and marshal cover

Motorsport fans have been giving their reactions to the announcement of the TT schedule for 2023.

The new programme was announced this morning (25 October).

Among the key changes the Senior TT will now take place on the final Saturday of the racing festival on 10 June.

The Superbike TT race will now be held on Sunday, 4 June, on the day historically dubbed as 'Mad Sunday'.

Following the announcement some TT supporters have raised concerns about the impact the format could have on travel for both fans and volunteers.

Some are worried the new schedule has 'created a problem for everyone wanting a ferry space' to return home on the Monday after the fortnight concludes.

Others describ the alterations, as a whole, simply as 'lunacy' whilst another believes those behind the changes are 'out of touch'.

The Department for Enterprise insists the new schedule will drive 'long term sustainability' whilst increasing visitor numbers and economic benefit by creating two long-weekend options for travelling supporters.

Enterprise Minister Lawrie Hooper says the 2023 format has been created 'following an extensive amount of research and stakeholder feedback'.

It's also been announced today that the Post-TT Races on the Billown Course have been cancelled after 31 years of running whilst next year's Pre-TT Classic Road Races are going ahead on a revised schedule in response to next year's programme for the Mountain Course.
