Electrical and hydraulic control systems are being reinstated
The Fenella Footbridge in Peel is due to reopen this week after a four-week closure for maintenance work.
In an update, the Department of Infrastructure confirmed the bridge deck has been lifted back into place and is mechanically ready for service.
Its engineers are reinstating and testing the electrical and hydraulic control systems this weekend, with hopes it will reopen to pedestrian traffic either tomorrow (Sunday 12 October), or 'more probably' Monday (13 October).
Some ancillary work will continue on the periphery of the site next week, but this will not affect access to the bridge or its operations.
