Fine for man caught using mobile at the wheel

Four penalty points after guilty plea

A man who drove past police while using his mobile phone has been fined by magistrates.

33-year-old Daniel Craig Priestnal of Westmoreland Court in Douglas pleaded guilty through the coroner.

Magistrates at Douglas Courthouse heard officers on patrol on Johnny Watterson's Lane saw Priestnal drive past them at 4pm on 10 December last year.

They stopped him, but he denied using his phone to call anybody.

He was fined £250 and ordered to pay £50 in prosecution costs – he also had four penalty points put onto his licence.
