HoK and LegCo in dispute
Two Tynwald members have sought clarification about planned changes to the list of benefits from which deductions can be taken to pay fines.
During yesterday's sitting of the court, David Cretney MLC and Ramsey MHK Lawrie Hooper asked why some would be exempt and some would not.
Mr Peake said the benefits exempt from being deducted concerned older people or looking after younger people.
The motion failed, thanks to the House of Keys and Legislative Council being in dispute.
It carried in the Keys (21 for, 3 against), but failed in LegCo (two for, three against).
Treasury Minister Alfred Cannan asked for the the motion to come back for a combined vote next month.
During the brief debate ahead of the vote, Mr Cretney put this to the member for Treasury, Ralph Peake, who brought the motion:
Have your say about Isle of Man Post
Police appeal for help finding missing man
Wildlife park animals to get extra treats on Christmas Day
Setting a budget can help stop Christmas overspend, say financial advisors
