Actions of workers prevented fire spreading and injuries
Firefighters have tackled a battery fire at a building in Douglas.
At the scene crews found the batteries in question were stored in a bespoke unit designed to limit the spread of fire and supress flames, preventing the fire spreading to the fabric of the building and minimising smoke damage.
The fire service says the quick actions of workers at the site on Monday (19 October) afternoon ensured the fire didn't spread and no-one was injured.
The public is being reminded to ensure batteries are charged in line with the manufacturer's instructions and kept away from escape routes.
