But no plans to bring in ILO BMI requirements
The Isle of Man has no plans to introduce fitness checks for fisherman.
That’s from the Royal National Lifeboat Institution’s fishing safety manager for the UK and Ireland.
In the United Kingdom an International Labour Organisation Agreement means that, from November, crews will have to have a medical certificate showing a BMI of 35 or less.
But Frankie Horne, who lives on Island, says whilst that won’t apply here it's important that those who go to sea are physically fit:
