MHK has questions in Keys
Questions about fitness to work tests faced by those on disabled benefits look set to spark debate in the House of Keys today.
South Douglas MHK Kate Beecroft has a series of questions for Treasury Minister Eddie Teare about the tests when MHKs meet later this morning.
She wants to know how much money the government is saving by finding people fit for work and how much the company carrying them out, Dependability Ltd, is being paid.
Mrs Beecroft has three of today’s eight questions for oral answer, while her LibVan party colleague Peter Karran has four and North Douglas MHK John Houghton has just one.
Mr Houghton will ask about radiation levels from mobile phone masts, while Mr Karran has queries about Peel harbour and Ronaldsway Airport.
Today’s seven questions for written answer, meanwhile, are a wholly LibVan affair: only the party’s two MHKs have any questions down for written reply.
New laws to bring in same-sex marriages will get their second reading this morning – there’ll also be debate about legislation covering planning, road racing, and the police.
You can listen to live coverage of this morning’s House of Keys sitting on Manx Radio’s AM1368 frequency, online at manxradio.com or via our mobile apps from 10am.
