Laxey School closed after more flooding

Parts of village impassable

Laxey School is closed today (Fri) due to more flooding in the village.

Roads through the village have been closed this morning, though a short time ago (7.45am) police said they were in the process of opening the Main Road, which they say is passable with care.

However, Dumbell Terrace, Old Laxey Hill, Minorca Hill and Glen Road remain closed and there whislt there what is described as severe flooding from Baldrine through to Onchan, the road remains passable with extreme care

The Mountain Road is said to be liable to flooding in places but is open.

Workers from the Department of Infrastructure, Fire Brigade and Civil Defence have been working since the early hours to clear the flooded areas.

Weatherman Colin Gartshaw says conditions should improve from now on . .
