FoI reveals most popular MNH sites

There has been 725,540 visitors across all sites in the last three years

The Manx Museum is the most popular site operated by Manx National Heritage. 

Figures released under Freedom of Information have revealed the visitor numbers for each site in the last three years, with 725,540 visitors across all sites. 

The free museum in Douglas has had 220,508 entrants since 2023, with 25,637 up to the end of July this year. 

Peel's House of Manannan is the second most popular attraction, recording 150,891 guests in the same period while Castletown's Castle Rushen, old House of Keys and Grammar School recorded 117,580 visitors. 

The Laxey Wheel was the only other site to record over 100,000 visitors in the three years, with 110,402 going to see the world's largest water wheel. 

In its response, MNH said: "The majority of Manx National Heritage (MNH) visitor attractions operate on a seasonal basis, normally between April and October.

"The exceptions to this are the Manx Museum and the House of Manannan which are open all year round.

"Additionally, some sites may open for occasional days only for specific events during the winter months."

It also noted it has introduced beam counters at the House of Manannan which has enhanced the way visitor footfall is recorded at that site.
