Foodbank concern over impact of Covid 19

Precautions are being considered

The Isle of Man Foodbank says it's considering what options to put in place, as the coronavirus pandemic continues.

Chief Executive Neal Mellon has concerns about the impacts the infection could have if it arrives on the Island.

Over 1100 cases have been confirmed in the UK (as of Sat 14) - though there have been no confirmed cases on the Isle of Man yet.

Mr Mellon believes there would be severe effects if the infection got out of control.

The UK government is to step up its efforts to try to halt the spread of coronavirus.

Boris Johnson is to announce plans to boost the number of beds available in NHS hospitals and will ask manufacturing firms to increase production of ventilators.
