Haywood fears personal allowance changes will create 'permanent hole' in government revenue

The former infrastructure minister has described this year's Budget as a 'reckless departure' from the principles of sustainable public finance.

Michelle Haywood told the court she wouldn't be supporting Treasury Minister Chris Thomas's spending plan for the year ahead.

This year's Budget includes a £2,250 increase to the Income Tax personal allowance.

Jointly assessed couples will see their limit rise from £29,500 to £34,000.
