Former Minister has no confidence in successor

Robertshaw no faith in Shimmin leading pension negotiations

The past Minister of Policy and Reform says he has no confidence in his successor regarding Public Sector Pension reform negotiations.

Chris Robertshaw brought forward an emergency debate on the matter in Tynwald this morning - he wanted a review of the decision not to move the early retirement age from 55 to 58. This was defeated.

Current Minister John Shimmin successfully moved that the current public sector pension negotiation process should carry on to a finish by the end of this year - with final proposals going to Tynwald in February 2016.

However, Mr Robertshaw accused Mr Shimmin of being a trade union shop steward putting forward proposals which were as "bland as a blancmange".

He says he no longer has any faith in him leading public sector pension negotiations:
