Friction over Cosy Nook cafe resurfaces

Port Erin Commissioners to do work next year

The Cosy Nook has posted a statement on its Facebook page saying a Port Erin Commissioner has told the current tenants he wants to see them out on the day the lease expires and not a day later.

Phillip and Sue Maltby have an agreement with the landlords, the commissioners, which runs out in May 2019.

Last year the state of the roof at the popular cafe was a discussion point between the Maltbys and the commissioners.

Remedial work was carried out after it was deemed unsafe by a structural engineer.

Port Erin Commissioners have issued a statement saying Marc Morley attended the inspection this year and confirmed the lease runs out on 11 May 2019.

They will then take back the property to undertake what they term significant works.

Once completed, expressions of interest will be sought.

The Commissioners say the current tenant is more than welcome to apply.
