Frustration over lack of children's M.E. and Long Covid service

Under 18's unaccounted for in new Manx service

An MHK has shared her frustration over the lack of provision for children in a new ME/ Chronic Fatigue Syndrome and Long Covid support service.

That service is set to start in the coming weeks, while the Department of Health and Social Care has confirmed it will submit a separate business case to cater for patients under the age of 18.

A children's service will rely more heavily on input from specialists from Alder Hey.

Garff MHK Daphne Caine says it wasn't clear when Tynwald debated it previously that young patients wouldn't be catered for:

It's estimated 350 people on the Island with M.E./Chronic Fatigue Syndrome and 445 with Long Covid.
