Manx BirdLife echoes RSPB advice
People with bird feeders in their gardens are being encouraged to take them down during the summer months, to prevent the spread of disease.
The RSPB recently issued new guidance on how and when we should be feeding garden birds, due to a large fall in greenfinch and starling numbers.
Sightings for the latter hit record lows for the second year running, whilst the average count for greenfinches rose slightly, by just over two percent - during the charity's annual birdwatch.
As a result, it's encouraging people to use birdfeeders seasonally and safely, in order to help reduce the spread of disease.
And here on the Isle of Man, Manx BirdLife is echoing that advice.
