Hopes to improve wellbeing services following consultation responses
Gender identity services on the Isle of Man feel 'fragmented and unsupportive'.
That's some of the feedback the Department of Health and Social Care has received after engaging with the Island’s trans and gender diverse community.
It's highlighted 'a lack of continuity and care coordination' and a lack of a comprehensive pathway for trans and gender diverse people seeking gender affirming care.
There's emphasis too on staff training with respondents saying they've experienced a range of positive and negative interactions with professionals across health and social care services.
The department says: "The results of the engagement exercise will help it to work with Manx Care in redesigning the Island’s gender incongruence pathway.'
It's promised to provide an update on its development by September.
