Winter sun causes flames
Fire crews have issued a warning to homeowners after they were called out to attend to a property in Colby last night.
Reports of a structure fire at Cronk-Y-Thatcher were investigated shortly before 11pm.
A glass bedside lamp was found to be the cause, with the low winter sunlight refracting the sun's rays setting a paperback book and a table on fire.
Firefighters say other objects which could focus the sun's rays include shaving mirrors, glass jars and bottles - and advise you to rearrange furniture, draw curtains or remove the items from sunlight to reduce the risk of fires.
