Government department may sell its headquarters

The Department of Home Affairs’ main headquarters in Woodbourne Road in Douglas could be sold and the operation moved to the Drill Hall in Tromode.

That’s just one of a series of cost saving measures being considered by department chiefs following this week’s budget.

Minister Juan Watterson says £700,000 will have to be saved in the next financial year with the reduction of up to 29 full-time posts.
