GP telephone appointments 'here to stay'

Around 75% of patients being seen face to face

GP appointments over the phone are here to stay, but face to face contact between doctors and patients remains 'massively important'.

That's from Health and Social Care Minister David Ashford after the Island's 11 GP practices brought in a telephone and video triage system during lockdown.

Around 75% of appointments with GPs are now taking place in person.

Mr Ashford says it's important to find the right balance.

The increased use of telephone consultations with GPs has split opinion amongst the public.
