War Memorials (Planning) (Amendment) Order 2026 takes effect next month
Around 300 war memorials that honour the legacy of the men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice while serving their country are to benefit from stronger legal protection.
It follows Tynwald's approval of the War Memorials (Planning) (Amendment) Order 2026.
The order corrects gaps and inconsistencies in existing legislation and lays down rules governing how memorials are created and designated and properly protected.
The new legislation takes effect on 1 June.
